Dumfries Preview Screening Sells Out

The special preview screening of A Dairy Story at RBC Film Theatre in Dumfries on 18 December has sold out within three days of tickets going on sale.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with David Finlay and Charles Ellett from Rainton Farm, offering audiences a chance to hear directly from them about the realities of farming with a cow-with-calf dairy system.

“We’re delighted by the response from local audiences,” said producer Lorna Young. “It was important to us that people in Dumfries & Galloway didn’t have to wait to see this film. Rural cinemas are often at the end of the distribution queue, but as filmmakers from this region telling a story rooted in this place, we wanted to make sure that didn’t happen here.”

RBC Film Theatre will show additional screenings on 20, 21 and 22 January 2026, with tickets available now via the RBC website.

Further Dumfries & Galloway screenings are being finalised and will be announced shortly.

The film recently won Best Documentary at IndieCork Film Festival in Ireland and the Audience Award at Central Scotland Documentary Festival.

A Dairy Story follows David and Wilma Finlay as they transformed Rainton Farm near Gatehouse-of-Fleet from conventional dairy to pioneering cow-with-calf farming. Filmed over two years, the documentary shows how changing a farming system changes everything - from the lives of the animals to the wellbeing of the farmers.
