A Dairy Story has won Best Documentary at the Twelve Lions Film Festival in Lexington, Kentucky. It is the second time the film has been named Best Documentary this year, following the same award at Unisphere Film Festival in New York.
The festival takes its name from the twelve lions set into the plaster friezes of The Kentucky Theatre, a Beaux Arts movie palace in downtown Lexington that opened in 1922 and is one of the few surviving cinemas of its kind in the United States.
Owned by the city and run by the non-profit Friends of The Kentucky Theatre, it programmes art-house, foreign and independent films year round. A Dairy Story opened the festival’s Friday programme in the State Theatre, and returned on Sunday to the main auditorium for the closing showcase of award winners. With around 800 seats, it is the largest room the film has yet played.

A Dairy Story opens its independent cinema run
A Dairy Story begins the next phase of its UK theatrical release this week, with fourteen screenings booked at ten independent cinemas from Aberdeenshire to Cornwall and further dates being added. The film is available to screen exclusively in UK cinemas during September and October, and bookings are welcome.

A Dairy Story has completed its run of Green Screen events at Picturehouse cinemas, closing on Sunday evening at the Duke of York’s in Brighton, the oldest cinema in continuous use in Britain.
